Morning Calm

My friend and I went up to paint with Plein Air Washington Artists on Whidbey Island this last week. What a gorgeous day. The sky was filled with lots of atmosphere; warm, sultry and sunny. The light was beautiful on the farmland. The air was still and the fields were ribbons of soft colors. The colors were so exciting, but I knew I had to mix colors carefully so that each field would relate to all the other fields and passages.

Marvelous! Fascinating! Great description of observed reality: "...so that each field would relate to all the other fields and passages." When writing historical fiction (such as "Plagueman") one is painting past reality with words, capturing it in a similar way to your description. Fun!
